Praxium’s MATHCOUNTS competition team has achieved great success in recent years, and we’re excited to see them compete again this year! The MATHCOUNTS Competition Series consists of four levels: school, chapter, state, and national. Each competition features four rounds—Sprint, Target, Team, and Countdown—which together take about three hours to complete.
Schools and non-school competitors (NSCs) register in the fall, and coaches prepare students using resources provided by MATHCOUNTS. Starting in November, coaches conduct the School Competition to select participants for the regional competition. At the regional level, up to 14 students can represent a school: four competing in both team and individual rounds, and 10 competing as individuals. Students who qualify can then advance to the state competition, continuing their journey toward national-level recognition.
At Praxium, our Yeti Squad is part of the student council and plays an important role in making our school a fun and connected place. They are responsible for planning events, raising money through fundraisers, and spreading school spirit with exciting activities. As they take on these tasks, Yeti Squad members also develop valuable leadership skills, learn how to speak up for their classmates, and encourage others to get involved in their school community. Their goal is to help every student feel proud of being a part of Praxium and to make our school a great place to be!
Praxium’s Hope Squad is dedicated to supporting students and identifying those who may need assistance. One of their key initiatives is organizing Hope Week, which typically takes place in February.
Hope Squad members are students chosen by their peers. They receive training to recognize signs of distress and provide support by connecting classmates to resources and encouragement. Additionally, Hope Squads work to educate the entire school community, aiming to reduce stigma and foster a positive cultural shift within their schools.
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) induction ceremony will take place after the first trimester and again at the end of the school year. At Praxium, the NJHS emphasizes raising students' awareness of how to serve others and make a positive impact in their community.
The NJHS upholds the values of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. It equips middle school students with the knowledge and skills needed to grow into well-rounded leaders within their school, community, and beyond.
Praxium’s Yearbook Club works tirelessly to create a yearbook that reflects the activities, culture, and student life of the school year. Their goal is to capture the memories that make each year unique. Students in the club gain valuable skills such as photography, writing, graphic design, teamwork, project management, and time management. They also learn the essentials of journalism, interviewing, and using specialized software. From taking photos and writing captions to designing layouts and overseeing production, Yearbook Club members are involved in every step of the process. The finished yearbook, filled with cherished memories, is distributed during the final week of the school year.
Praxium proudly hosts the first middle school Business Professionals of America (BPA) club in the area. Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to compete in regional and state-level competitions, showcasing their skills and knowledge.
